Some of you know that I’ve taken up juicing and did a lot of research about which juicer to buy – it’s a big purchase after all! Here’s why I’ve started juicing – but right now I want to dive deeper into the different machines out there and their pros and cons, so that you can know which one is right for you.

Each juicer has its own strengths and weaknesses. The best tip I’ve learned is to: choose the best juicer for what you want to juice. Makes sense right? Here are the top 3 juicers, based on reading reviews, comparing prices and considering individual needs. Which juicer is best for you?

    • Hi Loring! Great question! So softness and hardness refers to its texture. The masticating Omega 8000 juicer likes something to bite into – so things like celery, apples, even grapes and cucumbers. And definitely it likes chewing on grasses, herbs and leaves. But, it can’t juice things like papaya, kiwi or pineapple very well – It comes out like a mush or baby food.

The Hurom can do everything from papaya to wheatgrass. It’s not the best at juicing both, but offers the most variety if that makes sense.

It’s probably easier to produce a good tasting juice with the hurom since you can mix in different types of fruit to flavour and sweeten it. You’re more limited with the Omega – but will get optimal nutrition from the leafy greens.

I bought the Omega 8000 because I don’t want to drink a lot of fruit juices – I’d rather blend them to retain the fiber. But admittedly I’m still working on making a great tasting green juice! I have a few ideas I’m working on and I’ll share them along the journey 🙂

      Thanks again for the question!

  1. Hello

I will be in Singapore next week. Are you sure the omega juicers is available at one the stores mentioned above?

    Regards
    Saad

  2. Hi Militza,
I just bought a Vitamix but I want to drink more green juice during the day without taking up too much fiber.
I saw that you used a juice bag before for the pulp when you made a spicy orange juice. Do you think using a vitamix and a juice bag would keep the nutrients like a Omega juicer?
Or is a Omega juicer still a better choice?

    • Hi Cathy! How are you getting on with the vitamix? Have you tried making a warm soup in it yet? It’s amazing what this machine can do!

Yeah, if you want to remove some of the fiber, the vitamix is so brilliant at breaking down the fibers that simply straining it through a strainer (or nut bag) will leave you with more of a juice. You’re going to be getting tons of nutrients!

The Omega juicer is better for juicing leafy greens and wheatgrass, extracting the most nutrients. I have to admit, I love having both machines – but to be honest, you’re already benefiting so much from drinking juices and smoothies with your vitamix… I don’t think it’s necessary.

Having both machines I think is more about having good tools to suit the task that you want – but, in terms of nutrients – you are already doing super, with adding fresh, raw juices and smoothies into your diet! Keep it up! 🙂

  3. Hi,do you know where to buy vitamix blender in singapore? And does it really cost 1.2k+ sgd? In US they are around 500dollars, sounds like a huge markup… Would love to have one but finding it hard to justify the price.. Is it really that good? I broke my last food processor while chopping nuts and dates for raw brownies, do you use your vitamx for this purpose? Thank you!

    • Hi Yulia! Yes, it costs a bomb! You can find it at balanced living or crate & barrel in ION. I got mine from balanced living – the black color model is the cheapest at 1,100 – if you want white, or chrome its a few hundred more.

Here’s the thing, it’s worth it if you want to invest in your kitchen with high quality machines. The biggest benefit I see, are:

      1. you can overload it with ingredients and the blades can handle it whereas with other blenders you need to feed it intervals or it can get stuck.

      2. you can make nut-butters. Add about 3 cups of any nut and it will grind it down to the consistency of store-bought peanut butter. I even made coconut butter from dessicated coconut, which was very yummy!

      3. you can make warm soup. The blender is so powerful that anything you blend for over 2 minutes begins to heat up. So, you can throw in leafy greens, onion, bell pepper and a bit of stock and in a few minutes you have a warm (raw) soup – which is such a healthy and quick meal. Or you can throw in a few tomatoes, basil and garlic and you have a warm pasta sauce. You’ll actually see steam coming out!

      4. quick and smooth green shakes. I find that because the vitamix can break fibers down to almost nothing, it makes the smoothies green shakes. Even small bits of greens disappear. I found that with other blenders, you could still feel a bit of texture in the drink.

I love my vitamix, and I use it everyday – but it is an investment and I see it as having the best tool for the job. It’s not necessary, you can use other blenders to produce similar things – but you may need to appraoch it differently. Example: with my old blender, I used to have to take out the tough inner membrane from oranges before blending, because it could never break them down. Now I can just throw the orange in and it gets pummelled down to nothing. Before I would blend up a soup or sauce, then take it to stove to warm up, now I can just blend it until warm… so you can still produce similar foods, but I’m really enjoying the power of the vitamix.

hope that helps! Let me know what you decide 🙂

  4. I’m on the search for an affordable cold press juicer. Will you recommend omega brand? Is it available in Singapore? If I do a purchase on Amazon, will I have any issue with the power conversion? Thank

  5. Hi Miliza! Thank you so much for the answer. I made some research in the meantime and with the info in your relpy, i decided to go for it. It seems to cover all my requerements. I broke about two or three blenders in the past trying to make soups, nut butters etc…Balanced living are out of stock currently but i pre- ordered mine. I will let you know what i think once i get it. Cant wait for it!! 🙂

  6. Will a juicer (omega) or a blender( vitamix) be better? My doctor said that I need to ensure the enzymes are not destroyed In the process. Thank for our advice.

    • Hi Jacjac! Depends on what you need – they both work to retain the enzymes and nutrients, but produce different drinks. A juice is said to be more therapeutic. If you juice mostly leafy greens, it’s very alkalising in your body. It’s a quick delivery of vitamins and sugars to boost your day. A vitamix produces a shake, which has the fiber and helps to move things along your digestive tract. The fiber from vegetables like kale and dandelion root acts as a pre-biotic, creating a well balanced internal flora and detoxify as well. Shakes are also more filling and can act as a meal. I love both benefits, so I often include both juices and shakes in my day. Talk to your doctor about what your health goals are to determine which you should focus on first, juices or shakes… let me know what you decide! 🙂

  7. Hello I am so glad I found your web site, I really found you
by accident, while I was searching on Bing for something else, Nonetheless I
am here now and would just like to say thanks a lot for a incredible post and a all round thrilling blog (I
also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to go through it all at the minute but I have saved it
and also included your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a
lot more, Please do keep up the excellent b.

  8. Found your site when I was researching for juicers and went for the Hurom juicer. Best investment ever for my health. I suffered from scaly dry itchy skin on my toes which was very annoying and made worse by my sweaty feet.

Ever since I started to juice leafy green vegetables with fruits for my breakfast and also drastically reducing sugar intake and eating more vegetables, I have noticed a vast improvement to my skin condition. Added benefit is weight loss and better health.

  9. Hi Militza,

I don’t have any secret recipes but I do have a list of vegetables that I use regularly and in combination. I tried Kale before but it was very expensive, so I used Spinach and Baby Spinach. I also use Purple Cabbage, Celery and a local variety of lettuce that looks like a smaller version of Kale but less green. Paprika is sometimes used and it makes the grassy green juice easier to drink. I also base it up with Cucumber, Tomatoes and Green apples and sometimes with carrot. I’ve been drinking a combination of these juices for breakfast at least 5 to 6 times a week. Each juicing session yields about 2 and a half glasses of juice.

  10. Can I simply say what a comfort to find somebody who really knows what they’re talking about online. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people have to read this and understand this side of the story. It’s surprising you’re not more popular given that you surely have the gift.

  11. Hi, glad to find this website. May i know how do you prepare the vegetables before making the juice? Do you soak it in water with salt to get rid of the chemicals or is there other method? Please share. Thanks.

  12. Greetings, I do think your site could be having web browser compatibility problems.
Whenever I take a look at your site in Safari, it looks fine however,
if opening in Internet Explorer, it’s got some overlapping issues.

I merely wanted to provide you with a quick heads up!
    Apart from that, wonderful blog!

  13. Great weblog right here! Additionally your website quite a
bit up fast! What web host are you using? Can I get your associate link in your host?
I want my web site loaded up as quickly as yours lol
