Friends – I went and did something big – and completely inspired by you!

2014 was amazing for Little Green Dot – full to the brim with new experiences that I got share with you. Through this website, I’ve been able to run my own sold-out workshops, learn from people who are choosing to do business differently, and personally meet hundreds of like-minded individuals who are taking small steps every day to live more natural lives. (that’s you guys!)

I’ve spent time on passion projects, collaborating with experts on gardening, yoga, juicing, and making new recipes. All the while my kids are thriving, and I get to spend every day out on my bicycle, feeling like a kid again. So yes, amazing.

But as I wrote last week, life’s not a straight line. There are ups, and there are downs.

Throughout the year, so many of you wrote to tell me that while you love the green lifestyle, want to become healthy and get more hands-on – you don’t have the time or the energy…

Read these emails I’ve received – does this sound familiar?

  • “I LOVE making things too and love that that’s how you conduct your life. My life has had some crazy turns over the last few years and I am not able to spend as much time doing the things I love… But, I try to make as much time as I can because I realize it is important.”
  • “I’d love to have healthy and glowing skin. But I dont take good care of myself… To be more precise, I’m quite lazy! :-D”
  • “I’m really interested in healthy energy foods. I get lethargic easily after lunch in the office, so I was wondering if you could do a post of healthy energy foods, or ways to combat post-lunch office lethargy.”

and I get to see your hopes – like this: 

  • “I would like to read anything about healthy lifestyle… I plan on starting off 2015 living a healthier life.”
  • “I want/need to become more healthy & in shape so I can be more active in the grandkids & kids lives….. no energy! So, here’s to tomorrow!!!!”

I’m not singling anyone out — we’ve all felt this way before. But I’m telling you today that all these things we want for ourselves are completely possible!

We want to feel our best, with energy throughout the day – to get hands-on, to consume less and create more, to do all the things that are important to us.

We want to look our best, to glow with health and happiness – to take time caring for our body from the inside and out – treating it as our most priceless possession.

We want amazing experiencesto live a full life building relationships, learning new things, exploring new places and giving the best of ourselves to where it’s needed most.

And we don’t want to settle for anything less. 

Have you ever started anything new? You know that feeling – when everything seems ahh-mazing? You’re doing things that you love, you’re feeling excited and loving life. But, then… something else takes hold. Life happens. A distraction, a break in routine. The honeymoon fades. Before you know it you’re left standing there, feeling low, wondering what happened to that “real you.”

How do you lift yourself up from a setback? Part of it is managing the natural ups and downs – understanding that making the life you want takes work, and that you have to give yourself permission to fail.

But a bigger part of it, I’ve learned, is to create systems that give you a path to lasting change – small, easy daily routines that – when followed – naturally lead to your goals, whatever they are.

Over the past years, I have experimented with a lot of different ways to feel my best. Some have failed, some have worked, some have worked too well. But there’s one system that I come back to whenever I feel myself going off track. One thing that always sets me up for success. I think it’s the single most important thing that I’ve learned to keep myself feeling focused, alert and energetic – to help me create the life I want to live:  it’s the way I start my days.

I’ve written about this before – here, here and, of course, here. But I think we’re ready to go deeper and make lasting change. And that’s too big a topic for a single blog post.

So if you feel like your day has a hold over you, like you’re constantly being pulled from one thing to the next.
