I’m excited for you to try out this natural hair care routine by Elsie & Dominika, founders of Clean Beauty Co.  They are a natural body-care duo based out of the UK, here to bring you a really good hair day! 🙂

As friends they started making recipes in their kitchen, a passion that grew into professional training, a full-fledged brand of botanical skincare, a book and a series of workshops!

If you haven’t seen them yet, check out their beautiful range and recipes over at Clean Beauty Co.

I told them that hair care is something that we get a lot of questions about, so they offered up a solution:
Here are two Clean Beauty Co hair care recipes for you to make.

As they put it, “Ultra-nourishing goodness that hasn’t been diluted down with pointless fillers – better for your skin, better for your body, better for the environment and better for you.”

Over to you, Elsie & Domenika!

Honey, Coconut Oil and Aloe Hair Mask

This is a really easy hair mask that you can whip up from ingredients you already have at home. We use coconut oil as it’s high in essential fatty acids, protein and vitamins A and E which are all great for hair and it’s actually able to penetrate the hair rather than simply coating it which means the hair shaft gets the true nourishment.

We’ve added honey as it’s a natural humectant which means it attracts moisture and its antibacterial properties will help promote a healthy scalp. Finally, aloe vera is a fantastic ingredient for hair care, despite it being used much more commonly for skin. It’s soothing and anti inflammatory for irritated scalps, plus also has a similar chemical structure to keratin which is fantastic for providing hair with protein.

  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Manuka Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera
  1. Melt the coconut oil in a bain-marie
  2. Once liquid, add the honey and aloe and stir until the mixture is liquid
  3. Meanwhile, dampen a towel with hot water.
  4. Apply the mixture to hair from root to tip and wrap your hair in the warm, hot towel and leave on for at least 30 mins.
  5. Rinse thoroughly and shampoo twice to ensure your hair is clean!

Shelf Life: One time use please!

Fresh & Floral Hair Serum

This is a really easy serum which harnesses the power of floral essential oils for healthy and shiny hair! We use a really light base of sweet almond and macadamia nut oils as they are rich in fatty acids which hydrate but are ultra light, so easily absorbed and suitable for all hair types.

To jazz it up we’ve added ylang ylang (not too much as it’s pretty potent!) for its ability to help regulate sebum production on the scalp and therefore avoid over-greasy locks, as well as geranium for its astringent and toning benefits which will help to tighten the scalp and ultimately promote hair growth. Finally lavender we’ve included for its gorgeous smell! It’ll help keep you calm all day.

  • 20 ml sweet almond oil
  • 10 ml macadamia oil
  • 3 drops Geranium essential oil
  • 3 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
  1. Combine all oils and stir well. Decant into a glass bottle with pump lid. Use sparingly, a little goes a long way!
  2. For a serum use one squirt on wet hair ends before blow-drying
  3. For an intensive treatment use 2-3 squirts all over, allow to sit, and rinse thoroughly.

Note from Militza: I will say that buying essential oils is an investment, but you get a lot of bang for your buck! They’re incredibly therapeutic and potent, and you can use the same oils in other recipes. When buying essential oils, quality matters.

Two brands that I recommend for oils are Aura Cacia and Floracopeia.

If you’ve been looking for something really good for your hair – I hope these recipes inspire you to get in the kitchen! Thanks so much to Elsie & Domenika for sharing your recipe with us!

You’ll find more great skin food recipes over on their site.

Happy making!

  3. Hello! Thank you for this really useful and informative article. And I want to add one tip from myself. If you wash ur hair every day it will make it oilier. washing ur hair often will dry ur hair out and it will naturally lead to more oil production. if u wash ur hair every day slowly try to make it every 2 days, then 3 days, and so on. it will take time for ur scalp to adjust to this new routine but eventually, it will naturally start producing less oil.

  4. Thank you for this useful and practical guide! This is definitely a great help, I have bad split ends and I can’t wait to try this out for myself.

  5. These are really some great haircare tips. However, My secret is natural hair care. I found it on iahas.com, and they are really effective.
