A morning routine is a powerful way to set the tone for the kind of day you want to have.  

This year – I started waking up early an hour early, on purpose  – and it’s absolutely changed my life. If you feel stressed in the mornings, in a rush, not taking care of yourself. If you are groggy and low on energy – this 10 minute routine will revitalise you and transform the way you feel.

I’m always looking for new ideas – so I reached out to Liv, a successful yogi and creator of FitSphere, to share tips on how to activate our body and mind. I said to her:

“Liv, for people who are ready to start feeling better, who want more energy, who want to wake up feeling excited about the day – what kind of yoga stretches do you recommend?”

Liv invited me to her home and showed me a simple morning routine that you can do from bed, before you even get up! It involves a few simple yoga stretches with a mediation break. I was so excited to share this with you – I think you’ll love it and I know that this simple routine can have a massive impact on the way you feel.

Your alarm just went off. Don’t hit snooze – instead activate your body with a good long stretch. Point your toes and pull your arms back. Stretch as long as you can for a count of 15.

Set the alarm 10 minutes early tomorrow! It’s going to be an awesome day!

  3. Oh wow … Yes!! I flick through loads of sites and links reading interesting articles thinking it would be great to do xyz but never really finding anything that sticks. However for past few mornings I have been doing Liv’s bed stretches and totally LOVE them. What a lovely gentle way to wake. I have started doing more excerice recently so a morning stretch is heavenly. I have signed up to your morning programme so look forward to discovering more treats along the way 🙂

    • Hi Nick! I’ve been working on doing just this! I’ve got you covered! This stretch routine has been a favorite of the Morning Person students, I’ll try to make it easier, but for now keep it up! 🙂

  5. What a great post! Thank you so much for this. Is there any way to describe more in depth Step 5 Leg & Hip Stretch or perhaps a link to a more detailed description/photo/video? I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly what she’s doing. Thanks!

    • Hi Braxton! So happy that you’re enjoying it – hope you’ve kept it up and it’s making the mornings better for you! The stretch before Step 5 has you in a crossed-legged position. From there, stretch one leg behind you – move slowly and find what’s comfortable. You should feel the stretch across your hip. If you can reach behind and grab your ankle to lift.

  6. I am a breastfeeding mum. Every time I try to get healthier with my food I notice my milk supply drops, how can I eat cleaner & reduce my calories without risking baby going hungry?

    • Hi Nishi! Congrats on your little baby 🙂 During this time, I personally would not try to reduce calories. Enjoy your meals, eat the most nutritious and delicious foods that will give your hard working body everything it needs to provide for you and your baby!
