Of all the homemade products that I make – by far my favorite is the body scrub. Here’s why: it’s one of the easiest to make, and gives the quickest results. Your skin will instantly feel better – and what I’ve found is that if you do it consistently – your skin will stay soft, hydrated and naturally glow.
I usually keep it simple – oil and sugar – but sometimes it’s fun to make it a little extra special. I have two ideas for you, depending on your mood: you can make an earthy, warming scrub – or a bright, fresh scrub. Both are beautiful!
What I’ve learned is that scrubbing is about more than just smooth skin!
Our skin naturally sheds every 28 days, but as we age this process slows down – causing dull, tired looking skin. The dead skin cells begin to form a layer, along with product build-up, and blocks our pores which can lead to blackheads, pimples and unhealthy skin. Scrubbing helps to remove this build-up.
When you scrub, do it in a circular motion towards your heart. It’s going to help get your blood circulating and activate your lymphatic system which helps to drain toxins. Take your time and get into it!
Let’s get personal
Two areas that are really good to scrub are your underarms and bikini line – but only before you shave. It may help to lighten your underarms, and what I’ve found is that by scrubbing these areas regularly, I get less shaving bumps.
If you don’t already scrub weekly, start today! I really think you’ll find it makes such a big difference. Give it a go and let me know how it works for you
Pumpkin Spice Latte Scrub Recipe

Pumpkin Spice Latte Scrub Recipe
Coffee: caffeine perks up the skin! It's the main ingredient used in anti-cellulite creams and under-eye treatments. Coffee, even if only temporarily, leaves your skin feeling nice and taught. You may read recipes that say to use used coffee grounds - don't do that. We need the caffeine in its full concentration.
Pumpkin Spice: a blend that has ground cinnamon and ginger - two spices that help to get your blood flowing, help with circulation and give you that youthful, healthy glow. If you don't have pumpkin spice, then just use ground cinnamon and/or ground ginger.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup finely ground coffee
- 1 tbsp pumpkin spice or ground cinnamon and ground ginger
- 1/2 cup coconut oil or your favorite oil
Instructions
- work in a large mixing bowl
- blend the dry ingredients together
- pour in the oil slowly, mix and pour more - until it reaches the consistency of wet sand - or the consistency that you like
