I remember when I was about 20, I worked for a jewelry designer and I thought she was the most elegant woman I’d ever seen. For Christmas, I wanted to get her something fabulous, so I bought her a high-end salt body scrub. It was $50 dollars, and because she was the one who wrote my paycheck, she knew exactly how much little money I was making at the time. She said to me “Oh, you really shouldn’t have.” and though she appreciated the gift, I knew what she meant.
The holidays can set off a panic in us, trying to come up with great gifts ideas, breaking the bank – when really, giving should be about celebrating one another and that’s not something you can put a price tag on. How can a $5 gift be more valuable than a $50 gift? I’ll tell you how… make it yourself!
I have searched the entire internet world for the best homemade gifts… they are all wonderful, easy to make and I know that I would be over the moon to receive any one of them!
Here are my top favorites:
1. Spiced Maple Pecan Pumpkin Bread. Oh, yum! Tip: wrap it in a pretty tea towel and include the recipe!
2. Hand-dipped chocolate candy canes. Perfect for work or school gifts!
3. Rosemary Mint Sugar Scrub. So lovely!
4. Gourmet marshmallows. Hot chocolate, here I come!
Head over to my Homemade Christmas Pinterest Board where I have almost 50 ideas (and growing)! Have fun creating!

You hit the nail in the head…. let’s not forget the reason for the season and make it a celebration of what we can do with our hands/minds/etc and not just bought.
