This spray-on lotion recipe is a life changer!  Especially when it’s HOT and humid outside. It’s one of 8 products you’ll make with SIMPLIFY Skin: Summer edition, and because it’s so simple and versatile, it’s one of my favorites.

This easy homemade lotion recipe has all the elements of a good lotion, without any of the fuss!

All you need to to make this homemade 2 ingredient lotion is to pour the ingredients in a bottle – give it a good shake, and spray!

2 Ingredient Spray-On Lotion Recipe

ingredients:

  • 3/4 bottle lemongrass hydrosol
  • 1/4 bottle lemongrass infused rice bran oil

directions:

  • Combine ingredients in an airtight pump bottle
  • Shake vigorously before use to temporarily emulsify the oil and water
  • Spray directly onto your face and body.
  • You can also use this product to remove make-up! Saturate a cotton pad and wipe clean.

The purpose of lotion is to hydrate your skin with water, and seal in that hydration with oil.

But when it comes to making lotion – the complication comes in getting the water and oil to mix. When you make lotion at home, we need to use an emulsifier, like beeswax. It is gratifying to make, something you can do on a “Slow Sunday” – but if you want a simple lotion that’s really easy to make – this is your recipe!

You’ll notice that your lotion will stay separated, the oil and the hydrosol will not mix. But, all you need to do is give it a good shake before using – and it will temporarily emulsify into a lotion that you can spray on.

Notice all that hydrosol in there? This lotion is super hydrating for your skin – and very light-weight for hot summer days!

The best part: Even though we’re using water, the shelf life is longer in this recipe, because the acids present in the hydrosol act as a natural preservative. But, make sure to use it up in the two weeks (turn any leftovers into a really good foot soak!)

This simple natural skincare recipe is just one of the products you’ll create as part of SIMPLIFY Skin SEASONS: Summer.

    • Hi Jaja,

You can keep it in the fridge, it will last longer, but with homemade DIY – I like to be on the safe side. That said – 2 weeks for selfmade lotion is a good amount of time – and you can remake it again very simply – it only takes a few minutes to make! Keep you skincare fresh, and you’ll enjoy the results! 🙂
