Do you know what I love about this Honey & Lemon Tea recipe – it’s one of those age-old remedies, a classic because it works. If you are under the weather, have a sore throat – make this tea. It will soothe your throat, help to break up congestion. It’s going to warm you up and make you feel cared for.
My kids have been drinking it all week after picking up a bug from school and they actually call it their medicine. Which is so funny to me, because they’re actually right. We forget sometimes the way food can heal us and make us feel better.
Here’s how you make it – it all comes down to the proportions – and I’ve pretty much nailed it! 🙂
Soothing Honey & Lemon Tea
My kids like it sweet (no surprise!) my husband likes it tart. I think somewhere in the middle satisfies all. Squeeze in half a lemon.
Don’t forget, that used lemon has a ton of smart uses. Don’t be quick to toss it out!
Now, go ahead and add in 2 teaspoons of honey. A hot spoon will cut through honey without that sticky mess. I actually learned that photographing this recipe (making a big mess of things) ha!
Here’s what you – but you have to be quick: stick the spoon in hot water, wipe it fully dry and into the honey. Done!
Pour in your hot water. It needn’t be boiling hot – otherwise you’ll have to wait until it cools to drink it. Which is really annoying.
A mug works out to about a cup of water. Unless you have one of those giant soup-bowl mugs 🙂 The recipe works for the exact proportion of my mug – so follow it and then adjust it for yours
give it good stir – the honey will melt right in and turn it golden and delicious!
And that’s all there’s to it. It’s such a simple recipe to make and I promise you’ll feel so much better for it. Give it to your kids, family and friends – they’ll appreciate it and feel taken care of too.
Here’s the recipe and stay warm and healthy for the holidays!
